Feature of the Week:
Mr. Wilson Eko
Q: What is your name and how do you define “Healthy Living”?
A: My name is Wilson Eko and I define healthy living as having the opportunity and capacity to behave in a way that positively affects your physical and mental well-being. Paying attention to what you eat to reduce the chances of being seriously ill is also a form of healthy living.
Q: What are some activities you do to maintain your health?
A: There are three basic things I encourage people to do on a daily basis to maintain good health. A. Exercise, B. Maintain a nutritious diet and C. Get a good night of sleep.
Q: What are some of your favorite foods you eat to maintain your health?
A: My diet mostly consists of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products. I also eat a variety of protein-rich foods such as seafood, lean meats, poultry, eggs, legumes (beans and peas), soy products, nuts, and seeds. All of these are low in sugar, sodium, saturated fats, and cholesterol.
Q: What are some things you do to maintain your physical/mental/emotional health?
A: To maintain good physical/emotional health, I connect with other people. Good relationships are important for your mental well-being. I am also physically active. Being active is not only great for your physical health and fitness but your mental health as well. I continuously push myself to learn new skills.
Paying attention to the present moment, eating a healthy balanced diet with a lot of nutrient-rich foods, keeping immunizations up to date, and exercising as often as you can all maintains and increases positive physical, mental, and emotional health!
