MEN IN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH No. 1 6.5.23
Feature of the Week:
John S. Smith
Q: What is your name
and how do you define “Healthy Living”?
A: My name is John S. Smith, and I
define healthy living as constantly doing things that positively affect physical,
emotional, and mental well-being. Consistency is the key. Mental health results
from a chemical imbalance in the body. We can maintain optimal mental and
physical fitness by just doing the little things consistently.
Q: What are some activities
you do to maintain your health?
A: I go to the gym at
least three times weekly and work on building stamina and endurance. I also
maintain a strict diet that limits carbohydrates, red meats, sugar, etc.
I also like to play tennis and soccer to stay active.
Q: What are some of your favorite foods you eat to maintain your health?
A: I love salads, greens,
kale, various types of seafood, avocadoes, and fruits.
Q: What are some things
you do to maintain your physical/mental/emotional health?
A: I challenge myself
mentally every day, I read every day, and I exercise every day.
In addition to reading and exercising,
I meditate daily, travel to new locations, and visit friends and family. I
enjoy spending time with my children, helping them with homework, playing video
games, and going to see the latest movies. I also enjoy helping others in the community.
I encourage others to be supportive, open-minded, and innovative.
